Our focus for is delivering greater visual and sound fidelity, enriching the game with new vehicles and new ways to experience tank combat, as well as new fun-fueled events. Slated to hit production servers in March, it reimagines the game with a new graphics engine and over 25 ultra-realistic maps. This impressive revamp has been over four years in the making. We wanted to give the game a modern look, while also ensuring you can enjoy it on your rig. Much like we all do in a battle, we needed to plan a few steps ahead. In our case, it called for a solution that would support the latest technological advancements while having enough capacity to let us advance graphics in tandem with it. Also, we needed a technology tailored to World of Tanks.

Fixes to Preferential Matchmaking

Battle ratings are calculated by examining how well an aircraft or ground unit fares in different game modes, and they may differ for each game mode for the same vehicle for example, an aircraft or ground unit may perform considerably better in arcade mode than realistic battles mode, and so will have a higher battle rating in the former. This allows for a balanced game at all ranks and using all vehicles, meaning that certain nations having technological advantages at different periods in the game’s timeline is not an issue when playing, and planes that are too powerful do not ruin gameplay for those flying less effective aircraft.

In the realm of biffing games, Tekken is an angry, side-stepping maniac who likes to play dress-up before battering its victims into a pulpy mess. I like it very much. Last night, I accumulated eleven wins in a row, eight of which were against a single opponent who simply refused to give up, resulting in mixed feelings of accomplishment, pity, pride and bloodlust.

Let me set the scene. I was matched against a player fighting as Lars. Meanwhile, I was playing as Miguel, a former matador from Spain with gorgeous hair.

My first battle I was put into a match with 4 tier 10s and the lowest tank being a tier 7. Now I’ve had a elite leopard for some time so I am aware how to play a scout so I did manage to stay alive and do some spotting for my team before I was one-shot killed. What angered me the most wasn’t the fact that every tank I was up against could one-shot kill me, but that after doing some spotting I still lost close to silver for my repair and ammo costs.

So maybe I’m just whining, but I though the point of this game was to have some fun?

In Pagadian, in particular, there are beaches and islands that will make one believe that there is such a thing as a secluded paradise on Earth. A nice place to start would be the Dao-Dao Islands some seven to ten minutes away from the seaport, when riding a motorboat.

Because of my camo netting I wasn’t showing up on their radars. And this is what pissed me off, a Russian KV tank rolled up the hill and behind me, I knew I wasn’t visible to it so I waited until he went past and I cam out and started firing into his rear, every shot deflecting, he turned his turret round to look at me, but then turned it back and went to the crest of the hill and starting shooting at my team mates. I sat there at point blank range and blasted 20 shells into his real armour while he totally ignored me until an enemy SPG took me out in a single hit from the other side of the map.

I suppose that’s all you can do until I can afford to be in an imba tank myself or they fix their game. Getting behind an enemy tank, even if yours is comparatively small and fast is no small feat as you are usually spotted a long way off and this game heavily favours being immobile, in cover, camping. At the moment the game doesn’t reward getting behind your opponents that very well, unless it is a tank destroyer, which correctly does have atrocious armour on the rear and it can’t turn to shoot you if you disable its tracks, even a light tank should pose threat to a heavy one if you can score rear hits.

I am a history buff myself, but really we are already mixing Soviet, German and US tanks on the same teams so why not break immersion a little more and make the game fun? Kipling just launched a nuclear holocaust at third world countries! The game is catered in a way that forces you to spend money in order to have any fun.

I don’t like the idea of different “leagues”. But some might do. But what I dont get, and what I havent really found anything on is why dont they try to average out the teams?

Under my proposal the matchmaking weight values would be changed along with the method of assigning specific tanks their values. Each tier would have a range at where the matchmaking weight values will be at and instead of tanks being weighted based on their class they would be weighted based on how well they are balanced against their peers.

Like the old system the higher the tier you go the greater the matchmaking weight becomes as well as the larger the range for each tier to allow further balancing. However, under this system each tank would have an individual valued assigned to it instead of having a class modifier. While the old system might have worked when there were very clear class roles and fewer tanks it clearly does not work anymore as evident by the endless re-balancing that is occurring.

Every new addition to World of Tanks further strains the old matchmaking system that has served its purpose but now needs to be revamped. At tier 10 you have a few tanks that are well known for being outclassed by their peers. Under the old system their matchmaking weight is primarily tied to them being tier 10 and their class. All three tanks have the same matchmaking weight as tanks such as the T E3, T57, and E which perform much better.

Using the new system developers have a 20 point spread to play with an can give each tank a specific matchmaking weight to keep teams better balanced without one team being at a disadvantage simply because they have better tanks with the same matchmaking weight. Its an endless cycle that is caused by a system unable to cope with an evolving game. If this article confused you then the short version is that I am suggesting that tanks be balanced to allow a greater range of power in a given tier.
